Video Spotlight: Crystal Antlers

Artist Features October 8, 2009

Crystal Antlers got together because their high school music teacher was being investigated for child molestation. As absurd as that sounds, it actually starts to make sense in context of the world that is Crystal Antlers. It’s a place in which guitarists take kickboxing sabbaticals to Thailand, albums are crafted in a tour van using a boom box and a four-track, and vans are powered by restaurant grease.

15 Band Video Spotlights Coming Soon!

Artist Features September 14, 2009

I know it’s been a while since our last video spotlight went up. Let’s just say that while some people spend their  summers riding beach cruisers, eating otter pops, and pouring into music blogs, others are digging out piles of rocks from an otherwise great yard and then dealing with back problems that are usually reserved for men 40 years my senior.  I’m just saying… But instead of making excuses, [...]

Experience the Audium

Artist Features April 15, 2009

There are certain landmarks that attract music lovers – Woodstock, Liverpool, Graceland – all worthy historic pilgrimage sites. There are lesser-known sonic shrines around the world, and the Audium is one of them. One could easily describe the Audium as a temple, built to exacting specifications for a special purpose, and then open for the faithful to come and experience. It is truly one-of-a-kind, a “theater of sound-sculptured space”. It [...]

Pump Up the Volume

Artist Features June 22, 2008

The first wave was unexpected, rolling over my head and leaving me slightly disorientated. The second wave I was a little better prepared for and, having anticipated it correctly, pulled me from within and pushed me out on top of it all. This is what the payoff was, certainly: a transcendental experience not found in nature. My waves were not oceanic and I wasn’t surfing – my waves were decibels, [...]
